RECIPE FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY!
A healthy diet is essential for an active lifestyle. That's why we've partnered with coach Tammy Hodgkins, to provide you with the recipe of the month for January. Tammy has designed Zone based diets over many years for her clients specific to there needs and has many amazing recipes she uses to build out her clients eating plans.
"Zoning is an anti inflammatory diet created by Dr Sears and has been a very popular diet amongst many CrossFitters. Zoning is calculated in blocks. 1 block of protein is equal to 7 grams, 1 block of fats is equal to 3 grams and 1 block of carbohydrates is equal to 9 grams. The amount of blocks you should be eating on a daily basis is determined by your age, height, weight and the amount of lean muscle mass you contain.
Here is a sample recipe that I created for some of my zoning clients. It is super tasty and it happens to be vegetarian. Give it try!" - Coach Tammy
Makes 1 serve
Ingredients:
1/2 cup Pasta
1/4 cup Low-fat ricotta cheese
1/2 tsp Crushed red pepper
1/4 tsp Smoked paprika
1 tsp Olive Oil
1/4 cup Onion (thinly sliced)
1/4 tsp Salt (or to taste)
1/2 Can diced tomatoes (drained)
1 Tbsp Parmesan (grated)
1 Tbsp Basil leaves (sliced)
Preparation:
Prepare Pasta according to package directions.
Meanwhile stir together ricotta, crushed red pepper flakes and smoked paprika, set aside.
In a skillet, heat olive oil on medium-high. Add onion and salt; cook 8 minutes, stirring. Add diced tomatoes and cooked pasta. Cook 3 minutes.
Stir in ricotta mixture until warm.
Sprinkle with Parmesan and basil leaves.
This is easy to make, healthy and delicious!
